Women’s Lacrosse Drops 8-6 Decision to the Golden Bears of Cal

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ gained the early advantage when Kelly Winning scored just 35 seconds into the contest.  It is Winning’s 11th tally of the season.

 

The Golden Bears rattled off five straight goals including two from Julianne Wu to go up 5-1. 

 

Becky Ortolano made it 5-2 with a free position goal at 9:35 of the first half.

 

After another Golden Bear score, Eden Haladay notched her ninth goal of the campaign on an assist from Winning to make the score 6-3 at halftime.

 

Laura Cavallo scored what proved to be the game-winner for Cal just three minutes into the second half.

 

The Raiders mounted a comeback with late goals from Tara Casey, Eden Haladay and Katie McVeigh, but could not get any closer than two goals in the contest.

 

Sophomore goalie Sue Bielamowicz turned aside 13 shots in a losing effort for Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ.

 

The Raiders are now 5-3 for the campaign.  Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ is next in action Saturday, March 27, when Villanova visits Tyler‘s Field for a Patriot League match-up.
